Just some of the failures we have experienced.

The above picture shows the failure of the lower suspension or "Spider". This is generally due to over excursion by an incorrectly set or NO high pass filter applied. Unfortunately, to repair this LF Driver to a pro level, this will require reconing.

The above picture shows the failure of the internal voice coil. This was due to overheating with only a slight distortion in the shape of the voice coil causing the top of the internal winding to strike the pole piece in the centre of the driver. Once again, to repair this LF Driver to a pro level, this will require reconing.

The above pictures show two examples of what excessive temperature will do to the internal winding of these LF Drivers. This damage will produce a rubbing or binding sound when driven. Most possible cause is Low Powered Overdriving or LPO. This is when a power amplifier rated less than the drivers nominal power handling is used. It is always best to use an amplifier with at least 20% more power than the RMS rating of the loudspeaker load. Better to have an amp that is purring away with power to spare than an amp that is pushing itself to the point of distruction. These drivers will require reconing.
